Like many local animal rescue organizations, we are operating on a shoestring budget (well, to be honest, it is more like a fraction of a shoestring budget!). We have no paid employees, and we really lean on our volunteers to provide things for their foster birds that really should not be considered “extras” (like some toys and food and even cages).

Our designation as a 501(c)3 means we do not have to pay income tax to the federal government, and it allows for most of the donations you make to us to be eligible as tax write offs (but consult your CPA or tax advisor always!). What you may not realize is that designation does not exempt us from having to pay sales tax on things we buy (like cages and toys and cleaning supplies), and we are also required to collect and remit sales tax for anything we “sell” (or exchange for money, including adoption fees).

If you are so inclined, and have the ability to make a donation for the parrots, there are many ways to do so:

*Donate money for medical needs on our account at Southpaw Veterinary Clinic: give them a call during normal business hours and let them know you would like to make a donation to the account of Heartland Avian Rescue Project. 402-830-3700

*Donate through Paypal (just click on the “donate” button!).

*Send us a check (made out to Heartland Avian Rescue Project; request our address by clicking the “Contact Us” button and sending a quick email).

*Purchase something from our wishlists at Chewy or Amazon. (links coming soon!)

*If you have a new or gently used, clean cage (particularly those for larger birds) that you would like to donate, please contact us by emailing info@heartlandavianrescueproject.
